My love for photography started with a little point and shoot camera that I bought to take on vacations. It wasn't long before I realized I had a knack for photography (given I was getting positive feedback) and it became obvious I was bitten by "the shutterbug", as they say.
I took some photography courses at a community college, and soon after started working for Lifetouch National School Studios. It was there that I honed my skills, first as a portrait photographer, where I learned a ton about lighting and composition. Soon after, I started in the candids department. I found it was by far the most fun for me.
Through the years I have covered just about every sport and event imaginable. I've gained valuable experience through covering homecoming games and dances, state championships, concerts, plays, proms, graduations, and am blessed to be requested specifically for certain schools and events, in addition to being solely requested for Harford County Board of Education events. I've even had the honor of doing portraits for county executives, covering events for Olympic Champion Michael Phelps' family, and worked with members of the Orioles and Ravens.
And the places I get to go are awesome. I'm lucky to have covered events at M&T Bank Stadium, Hershey Stadium, Giant Center, Cal Ripken Stadium, DAR Constitution Hall, George Mason University Arena, SECU Arena at Towson State, Camden Yards, Navy-Marine Corp Memorial Stadium, as well countless school stadiums, sports fields, colleges and schools in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and Washington DC.
Although I love covering all of these things, one passion of mine is covering live bands. Quite often I grab the cameras and hit venues on Friday and Saturday nights and capture some of my best work... when there's stage lights and people who LOVE their photos taken, how can you go wrong? I've covered numerous bands and musicians in Baltimore, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and DC area, including Ted Poley LA Guns, and Ace Frehley among others.
When I am not working my day job, I am being a dad to an awesome 13 year old daughter. I enjoy working out, riding my bike, and own/operate Phoenix Custom Screenprinting. I am also part of the Knights of Columbus and do volunteer work with them for our church and community.
